Placard Case Study

In 1987 Placard was established in Melbourne, and is Australia’s leading manufacturer of quality plastic cards for both individual and commercial customers, including the manufacture of high-security PIN (Personal Identification Number) enabled cards. Placard’s business is centred upon the customer, with the company proud of its ability to design and manufacture plastic card products tailored to very specific individual requirements. Placard also benefits from its long-standing relationships with large financial institutions and Government Organisations including American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard , VISA and VIC Roads to name a few.

Like any high-tech manufacturing business, Placard’s success is dependent upon highly trained, specialist staff who operate expensive and complex machinery to produce a high quality, durable product. However, in order to maintain full capacity at its various plants across NSW, VIC, SA and the ACT, Placard faces occasional staffing challenges, which must be met to service its operations.

Since 1999, Placard has been a customer of ASA. We have provided Placard with quality staff for over a decade – allowing them to deliver an exceptional product and level of customer service throughout a period of continued achievement. We assisted Placard in successfully delivering the largest mail out project in Australian history, a project involving 8.5 million items, which began 2 weeks behind schedule. In providing staff for all 3 shifts of this colossal task, ASA ensured our people exceeded their targets, with the overall project completed ahead of time. Following the positive feedback regarding the quality and efficiency of our service, ASA is now proud to be Placard’s preferred staff supplier.

In 2016 VIC Roads become a customer of Placard, and there was a need for skilled staff to perform highly demanding work for VIC Roads. ASA stood up to the challenge of finding the right staff, and placing skilled staff for the VIC Roads project.

ASA’s Solution:

  • Provide qualified staff trained in specialist skills
  • Staff were to be provided in short space of time
  • Staff required across 3 shifts

“I had the opportunity to work with Australian Staffing Agency over extended periods of time for the supply of Casual Labour. Despite the short notice and size of requests I have always found the staff at Australian Staffing Agency willing, helpful and able to accommodate my requests and fill the positions with quality staff”. – Jim Drakopoulos, Operations Manager (PLACARD)
