Like any business, we’ve all had to find new ways to adapt to the changing environment and social distancing restrictions due to Covid-19.
Being able to best serve our clients AND candidates in the face of a global pandemic, has been a balancing act. However, our consultants are thriving by utilising different technology to ensure all interviews and onboarding are completed safely and as efficiently as before.
We have continued to interview remotely using Zoom and Google Duo which has been a great experience for everyone involved (even when the pets make guest appearances!) and allowed us to get to know our candidates on a more personal level whilst adhering to social distancing.
Just prior to covid-19 becoming a workplace reality we all have to consider, we teamed up with Flare HR to streamline and digitise our onboarding and employee management experience. You can read more about our journey here: ASA and Flare HR
With household budgets being a little tighter and our team needing some extra loving – being able to access a benefits portal for a huge range of discounts and offers has been a fantastic tool for keeping everyone engaged with our business.
A few things we have found that have worked well for us:
- Having a pre-interview debrief with candidates to make sure they’re prepared with and know what to expect in an online interview. This Indeed Article is a great source of hints and tips candidates may find useful
- Being aware of any accessibility issues a candidate may be facing and supporting them where possible (not everyone is a Master of Technology!)
- Outlining everything they’ll need to have handy to complete their onboarding online – including any tips on sourcing specific information we may request. Not everyone keeps their TFN or Super information on hand so letting them know we’ll ask for it results in a smooth onboarding process.
As with anything else – having an open mind during this process is paramount. For a lot of candidates this is their first time navigating an online interview/onboarding procedure so taking the time to ease them into it will always ensure stress free and happy candidates!
